Waltham House
The town of Wirksworth is a maze of narrow streets and interesting alleyways, much admired by locals and visitors over the years.
The town stands virtually at the centre of Derbyshire, two miles from the Peak District National Park boundary and was an important part of the English lead mining industry when it was at its height. The mining in this area dates back to Roman times. Lead mining fell into decline towards the end of the 19th century.
The fine architectural buildings that make up the centre of Wirksworth were recognised in 1983 when the town received an international award for architectural conservation. There are lots of interesting places to visit, including the Heritage Centre in Crown Yard and the Parish Church of St Mary, dating back to 653, which is situated at the junction of five ancient trackways.

There are a variety of local amenities and shops very close to the centrally located Waltham House, with good road and public transport links to Derby, Matlock and Bakewell.
