Training
Housing 21 has a national dementia learning programme that includes specialist dementia practice modules. Available to all Housing 21 employees, the programme has been produced in collaboration with specialist dementia trainers.
The training ranges from a basic dementia awareness course that meets national standards, to specialist programmes that cover subjects such as:
- challenging behaviour
- dementia and learning disability
- older people and alcohol
- life history.
All individual courses have a practical focus to ensure that staff can work effectively with their service users as the key to providing a top quality service.
Consultancy
We provide a range of consultancy work on dementia services.
Recent consultancy work has included:
- Evaluation of Barnwood Trust Day Services
- A Review of Research Evidence Regarding the Design of Extra Care Housing for People with Both Dementia and Sensory Loss
- Evaluation of Bristol City Council Assistive Technology Pilots
