Dementia Extra Care

Housing 21 extra care housing provides a positive and enabling environment in which to support and care for people with dementia.

It provides older people with dementia:

  • the security and privacy of their own home
  • responsive specialist care and support services
  • access to a range of on-site facilities
  • participation in activities such as reminiscence, cognitive stimulation therapy and computer training.

Our services can be provided to meet a wide range of care needs in larger communities or in specialist schemes specifically run for people with dementia.

These specialist schemes are:

  • designed to promote independence
  • allow individual mobility
  • utilise assistive technology
  • supported by specialist staff.

Recent projects

Olive House, Fulham

Housing 21 is providing the care and support to 25 extra care flats at Olive House. Managed by Hanover, the scheme for people with dementia and other mental health problems is an innovative alternative to residential care.

Focused on person-centred care and support, Olive House will provide:

  • a responsive yet sensitive service
  • a range of therapeutic interventions
  • social and leisure activities at the scheme and in the local community
  • opportunities for social interaction
  • an enhanced quality of life.

Cherry Tree House, Wirral

Cherry Tree House is an extra care scheme for people with dementia. Operated by Rodney Housing, with care provided by Housing 21, the scheme is designed to help older people with dementia to remain independent for as long as possible.
