Extra care scheme in Kent

Day Services

Our dementia day services offer support seven days a week and provide activities and care in a stimulating environment. Tailored to individual needs our support and care focus on:

  • helping reduce confusion
  • encouraging social interaction
  • restoring self esteem
  • regaining basic life skills.

Our innovative approaches which provide mental stimulation and help reduce cognitive decline include:

  • cognitive stimulation therapy (CST): for people with mild to moderate dementia which involves sessions of themed activities to stimulate and engage.
  • computer training: allows service users to develop computer skills to contact friends and engage in interests that would otherwise be hard for them to pursue.

Housing 21's programme also reflects that people with dementia retain the ability to develop new skills and relearn things which may help them remain independent for longer.
