Walstead Court, an extra care scheme of 26 one and two-bedroomed flats in Crawley, was officially opened last month.

The purpose-built scheme, developed in partnership between Housing 21, West Sussex County Council, and Crawley Borough Council, provides high-quality independent living, with 24-hour care provided to meet residents’ changing needs over time.

As well as enjoying purpose-built accommodation, residents have been provided with an on-site restaurant, hairdressing salon, gardens and sun terrace. These facilities are open to all in the local community, providing a range of activities and support networks for older people, and helping enhance links with the local communities.

Walstead Court was officially opened by Pat Arculus, Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services for West Sussex County Council and Elsie Osgood, a resident at the scheme.
