Home ownership options
Housing 21 has a programme of supportive housing options for purchase including extra care through mixed tenure, shared equity and full purchase. This area of our business is growing fast as we work with local councils to extend choices for older homeowners especially those that have limited capital but want to invest in a secure future.
In Staffordshire we are building a mini retirement community with a range of services for older people and the local community including day care and a mix of accommodation for outright sale, shared ownership and rent all on the same site.
In Suffolk we have recently completed Mere View Court - our first extra care development where all the apartments are for shared ownership sale. Mere View was developed in partnership with Mid Suffolk District Council and Suffolk County Council and was part financed by the Housing Corporation. The scheme is extremely attractive with 32 one and two bedroom apartments set around an attractive courtyard (pictures).
In addition we have also sold apartments and bungalows on our extra care schemes in Portland, Dorset; Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire and in LB Havering. During 2007 we will have a variety of homes for sale on our new extra care developments in Portsmouth, Sutton, LB Hounslow, Blackburn and Bradford.
