Our people

Headed by Chief Executive, Pushpa Raguvaran and a team of directors, Housing 21 has over 7,500 staff nationwide, helping provide our customers with the best possible service.

Read some of our team's stories to find out what they do.

Carer

I've been working at Housing 21 as a carer for the last ten years. I provide home care to the elderly and disabled people in the local community. I work mainly in the Asian Elders team, where I provide daily care to clients whose first language is not English. As I speak Gujerati, I can speak to them directly and understand their needs.

I enjoy my job, because I like talking to elderly clients, and helping them as best I can. This may include feeding them, dressing them, shopping and other tasks. I believe that Housing 21 is one of the better providers of care to the elderly and disabled people.

Court Manager

I'm an extra care court manager and am responsible for managing the care and building at a court in the north of England. It's a very busy, hectic role, and every day is completely different. My main priority is the well-being of my residents and ensuring they are happy. I make daily contact to check they are okay, organise care, help out with benefit entitlements, and encourage social activities both on and off court. I am also responsible for looking after the communal facilities, organising repairs, and helping promote the court in the local community.

My court is very vibrant, with lots of parties and social events organised by the residents' association. It's great working in such a a friendly and happy place and I love coming to work each day.

Lettings and Marketing Administrator

I am the first point of contact for customers enquiring about available properties. On average, I receive over 50 calls a day on a range of subjects, including what types of properties we have available, the application process, and how to get onto a waiting list.  I also take calls from current customers who are interested in transferring to another of our properties, maybe to be closer to their family.

I definitely enjoy the day-to-day challenges of the role, as I know we all play our part in changing our customers lives for the better.

Active Living Support Worker

I work at Walsall where Housing 21 is currently replacing nine residential schemes with brand new extra care housing. Many service users have been living in long term residential care for many years, so feel anxious about moving to their own home. My role is to help and advise them on their move and guide them through the transition to extra care.

Each month I meet with service users to discuss progress on their new homes. We discuss individual needs, such as aids and adaptations, and also work closely with interior designers and health professionals.

I also offer help with day to day tasks such as managing finances, taking medication and organising social activities. Seeing people start to be more independent is very rewarding.
